इरफान ने ट्यूमर का लंदन में इलाज कराया था
इरफान को न्यूरोइंडोक्राइन ट्यूमर हुआ था। इसे रेयर ब्रेन कैंसर भी कहते हैं। मार्च 2018 में इरफान को अपनी बीमारी का पता चला था। उन्होंने खुद फैंस के साथ यह खबर साझा की थी। इसका उन्होंने लंदन में इलाज कराया था। वे अप्रैल 2019 में ही भारत लौटे थे। लौटने के बाद इरफान ने ‘अंग्रेजी मीडियम’ फिल्म की शूटिंग शुरू की थी। यह फिल्म बीते मार्च में रिलीज हुई।
राजस्थान के रहने वाले इरफान एनएसडी के स्टूडेंट थे
इरफान के परिवार में पत्नी सुतापा देवेंद्र सिकदर और दो बेटे बाबिल और अयान हैं। इरफान खान टोंक के नवाबी खानदान से ताल्लुक रखते हैं। उनका बचपन भी टोंक में ही गुजरा। उनके माता-पिता टोंक के ही रहने वाले थे। 7 जनवरी 1967 को जन्मे इरफान का पूरा नाम साहबजादे इरफान अली खान था। वे एक्टिंग में बाय चांस आ गए। वे क्रिकेटर बनना चाहते थे। लेकिन उनके पिता चाहते थे कि वे फैमिली बिजनेस संभालें। हालांकि, इरफान को नेशनल स्कूल ऑफ ड्रामा में जाने का मौका मिल गया और यहीं से उनका एक्टिंग करियर शुरू हुआ। छोटे पर्दे पर उनकी शुरुआत ‘श्रीकांत’ और ‘भारत एक खोज’ से हुई।
मकबूल, लंच बॉक्स, पीकू, पान सिंह तोमर ने उन्हें अलग पहचान दिलाई
1988 में आई मीरा नायर की फिल्म ‘सलाम बॉम्बे’ से इरफान ने शुरुआत की थी। बाद में उन्होंने ‘मकबूल’, ‘लाइफ इन अ मेट्रो’, ‘द लंच बॉक्स’, ‘पीकू’, ‘तलवार’ और ‘हिंदी मीडियम’ जैसी फिल्मों में काम किया। उन्हें ‘हासिल’ (निगेटिव रोल), ‘लाइफ इन अ मेट्रो’ (बेस्ट एक्टर), ‘पान सिंह तोमर’ (बेस्ट एक्टर क्रिटिक) और ‘हिंदी मीडियम’ (बेस्ट एक्टर) के लिए फिल्मफेयर अवॉर्ड मिला।

जावेद अख्तर ने बताया कि इरफान से आखिरी बार लंदन में मुलाकात हुई थी। शेर-ओ-शायरी की बातें हुईं। उन्होंने कहा था कि जल्द लौटेंगे तो फिर इत्मीनान से बात होगी। उनकी अदायगी एक करिश्मा है। बीमारी के दौरान भी काम करते रहे, ये जज्बा था उनमें।
